Parker 87R Short Handle Butterfly Open Safety Razor

Head is the same as all TTOs from parker, but this is the short handle version. Sturdy, heavy duty and beautiful razor! I really like how this razor is efficient, you get to feel the blade, but not uncomfortable. It is not a super mild one, yet I think it is suited even for beginners. If you like efficiency and a little blade feel, go for it!

After shaving a number with Parker blades, and the 87r.....it's better than my Gillette I love it.....

I received mine recently...always used an adjustable DE..Merkur Progress and Merkur Futur....I wanted an old school butterfly open razor..and this one reminded me of the Gilettes of the 60's...when I started shaving. It is described as mild/medium....I've used it twice with my go-to blade(Gillette 7:00 O'Clock Platinum..this razor does come with Parker blades)....the shave here is terrific....I would say the razor is more medium than mild....it's great quality....weight and balance is perfect...and a great purchase and delivery from this vendor....

It has awesome weight and finish. The butterfly clamp works smoothly and I get a good shave out of it even with the included blades.

I have been through a few double edge razors and this has become my favorite. Easy to change blade and keep clean.

I bought this razor on Amazon, but I can definitely tell you Parker has a winner in the 87C. I used to shave with a Merkur 34C, and while it's also a nice razor, it just wasn't efficient enough for my coarse beard with sensitive skin. This razor gives a mild but efficient shave when paired with the right blades (my personal pick is Astra Superior Platinum, but YMMV). The fit and finish isn't quite up to those vintage Gillettes, but who cares when the mechanics are spot on? The blade sits damn near perfectly in mine and is held rigidly, just like God and King C. Gillette intended. It's a No. 66 Aristocrat without the vintage scalper markup. Howie, this razor deserves every star I'm giving it. You've made a convert out of me.

This is as close as you can get to a brand new Super Speed razor. I had my first two passer this morning with an Astra SP and it equals or surpasses my 34C. The fit and finish is quite good. My only issue is a slight blade gap between sides but it is very minor. After I try Nacets and 7'OClock greens I can elaborate more on this issue. Also, I suggest a few drops of mineral oil down the barrel before use. It smooths out the action and no squeaks. If anyone wants a new razor that closely mimics the classic Gillette's, get this one. I would not waste my time on a Weishi or their clones because they are as mild as shaving with one's hand instead of a razor. Thanks for excellent service too.
