A few years ago, I decided to quit dropping money on the cartridge razors and try a safety razor. My first safety razor was one from Wal-mart. It had a picture of the bald guy from Pawn stars on it, and had a butterfly open.
I did not like it at all. I thought the handle was too short, and the butterfly opening mechanism seemed to work more and more loose as I used it. I went back to cartridge razors.
Once again, I found myself unwilling to pay the $$$ for cartridge razors, even though I started using Harry's. I like them, and they were cheaper than the Gillettes, but still pricey.
So after doing a lot of research online through various forums, youtube vids, and amazon customer reviews, I settled on this Parker 91R.
It has a longer handle than my old one, which I really like. It is three-piece construction whereas my old one was butterfly open. It doesn't loosen as I use it.
I also ordered a sample back of blades to see which I'd like the best. We'll see on that, but so far I like the handle length, weight, and three piece construction MUCH better than my previous pawn stars safety razor.
